Many years ago, I bought a large Pyrenean Mountain Dog puppy. When holiday time came, I booked him into a nearby kennel — a place I believed, like most people, was run by caring, licensed professionals.

A week later I returned to collect my beautiful, fun-loving boy. I was horrified. He was distraught. He had lost weight and been badly groomed — the long hair down the back of his legs, his “trousers”, had been stripped away down to red, bare, sore skin.

It took a long, patient time to nurse him back to trusting humans, eating properly, and enjoying his puppy days again. Growing up, I had believed kennels were run by pet-loving professionals, vetted by local authorities and properly licensed. How wrong I was.

I swore I would never use kennels again. I had been let down — but worst of all, I had let my gorgeous dog down, and he had trusted me.

When the time came and I no longer had pets of my own, I set up this business. I wanted to help others be spared the nightmare of simply hoping their pets were safe.
